Apartment Purchase Prices Surge in Bulgaria
09.02.2007The average price of apartments in Sofia in 2006 was 1341.8 leva per square metre, representing a 9.8 percent increase.Apartment purchase prices in Bulgaria in the fourth quarter of 2006 averaged EUR 462.21 per sq m, 14.7 percent up from the fourth quarter of 2005 and 5.5 percent up from the third quarter of 2006, according to the National Statistical Institute.
Prices increased most significantly in Lovech, Turgovishte, Pernik and Stara Zagora. The value of apartments in Vidin increased the most, by 64.7 per cent. Price hikes in Rousse, Pazardzhik, Pernik and Dobrich reached 25 per cent. Prices in the bigger cities and Sofia increased the least. The average price of apartments in Sofia was 1341.8 leva per square metre, representing a 9.8 percent increase. In Plovdiv, prices increased by 1.5 per cent to 988 leva.
Apartments in the Varna and Bourgas were offered for respectively 1316 leva per sq. m. and 1227 leva per sq. m., which was nearly a 10 percent increase. NSI information contradicted property agencies data. Address real estate agency data showed that the biggest increase in the price of apartments registered was of 30.33 per cent in Stara Zagora.
