US Company to Build Civil Airport near Gotse Dlechev
09.03.2007A civil airport will be build not in Bansko but in Gotse Delchev. This was made clear after experts decided that the idea of Bansko's municipality for a civil airport near the ski resort is hardly feasible. The area near the town of Gotse Delchev, however, is quite suitable for the implementation of such a project. On the basis of the experts' conclusion the municipal councilors unanimously voted for signing an agreement with the US-based Job Performance Systems. The project is to be implemented by a public-private partnership between the municipality and the US company. The old military airport will be adapted to handle charter flights. The construction of the new airport is due to start at the beginning of 2009.
